Sensei Jarod Kulpa — 2nd Degree Black Belt

After being bullied in 5th grade, Sensei Jarod needed to learn how to defend himself without using his strength recklessly. In training with Master Cordero, he learned control, confidence, and purpose. Though once considering classroom teaching, he found his calling at USSD Irvine and now leads the Newport Beach dojo. Known as the “Moto-Shark” in Orange County, he rides with a shark helmet and hands out squeaky shark toys “because I love making people happy.” His favorite quote: “You don’t know how splendid the day is until the night has come.”
